His charisma and smart character could not be ever overlooked. As far as I know Luis was the oldest player coming to play with AMAC Football Team since it was founded (sorry if I am wrong) but it would be hardly recognisable if you would not know it. I guess any of us would be more than happy to be as fit as him in this age. Still running, fine dribbling, goals and one beer at the end. This is how I will always remember Luis Palma on the pitch.
Luis thank you again for playing with us. It was an honor for us meeting you not only around the ball. We wish you all the best, good health and happy mood as you always look like being in.

Wolfgang Ammerer has been with the team almost since it was founded by his boss Hans Hornung and co. in 2006. He is a fantastic sportsman. Of course he was coming on Saturday trainings but played also in the league and tournaments where AMAC team participated. Flexible right defender or right wing. Always able to catch the opponent and running marathon on the pitch. He was responsible for the "after training drinks" since the team runs and with Hans he started the fantastic reason to come for the training (beer) until Czechs took over.
Wolfgang, also to you and again we wish you all the best. Enjoy the time being back home after a long time abroad and keep your smile on as we all know you!

And finally ... Michal ...No I cannot write about myself so will better do about the team.
Throughout the 5 years since the AMAC Football team was founded we have been playing on our trainings with players from total of 42 countries. I think there is not even a professional team like this in the world. Since October 2006 there were 247 Saturdays and only 5 times the training was not organised from which 3 times because of another football tournament or match. We have had 95 registered players and another 10-20 which I could not convince to register. Those are just numbers which show us the spirit of the team. Come, play and have fun around the ball.
The team played at 12-14 players at the begining. Now there are 20-28 players coming regularly. AMAC Football Team is partipipating in the Ankara International League and managed to get 4th place among 14 teams this year. What a team!

Dear all, for me it was a great pleasure to come and play football every Saturday and I felt always honored to help with running such a team. I am sure that as long AMAC will be AMAC there will still be at least our Saturday traings. I wish everyone - enjoy the spirit of the team in happines and good health. It has been postponed to yesterday since it was heavy snow in March. In the evening the weather conditions changed in Ankara to be really wet and although the rain stopped in second half we were soaked like frogs even when the match started. Big pools of water staying on the grass caused the ball stopped several times in the game but made it more difficultl for both sides.

We managed to get close to opponent goal many times but ones we pushed the ball in and took the lead, 1:0 (Meder). Immediately Nordics shifted second gear with Nikolaj and Kadir leaving us sometimes just watch in midfield (Meder, Michal, Ruslan, Ahmet). But again our solid defence (Mustafa, Amir, Dan and Ilker) created a wall which was not easy to overcome. If Nordics came through it our last man Viktor in the goal was very reliable and covered the ball in his gloves. Anyway Nordics equalized quite quickly - 1:1, and added extra goal - 1:2. We played up and down and tried to shoot. Ahmet got the ball. Nice shot but hits the crossbar...very unlucky. A bit disappointed at half.

Second half started in the same sense as the first one ended. We played up and down. Viktor made some really nice saves. Two dangerous fouls occurred. First on Meder who was slightly injured and could not continue. Then a bad slip from Ahmet...yelow card. Suddenly Ruslan made a good tackle and shot a lobby ball over the goalie...equal again, 2:2. Fast after this Ilker tried it almost from the same position and same ball, 3:2. And it was around 5 min to end. Whistle...finished.

There is one more match where Nordics is unlikely to win with IIS. If this happen we are 4th and I am convinced this is a big succes for our team and I am really happy.

Bravo AMAC!!!

AIL: Portugal x AMAC - 1:3

http://www.amacfootball.com/1/post/2011/04/ail-portugal-x-amac-13.html

http://www.amacfootball.com/1/post/2011/04/ail-portugal-x-amac-13.html#comments

Uncategorized

After unsuccesfull last week when AMAC lost 0:2 to UK/IRL we gathered in a good setup to be ready to play with Portugal. Our solid defence (Fatih, Amir, Ilker) worked smoothly and supported our midfield (János, Michal, Yancho, Ruslan-Sub, Ahmet-Sub). The first to substitute was Meder for Michal when he felt he cannot rely on his knee on 100%. Starting with second half russians shifted in the second gear. They pressed our defenders much more and we begun with long passes to our forward. We made some changes to let players rest a bit. As Ruslans played first game he tried his best and made couple of nice passes. On the other hand Ahmet was lost on the field, good running but without a position.

One penalty gave our opponent even more power. And last Saturday 26 March 2011 was his last training as a Colonel.

He played with us since 2008 and came to training every possible Saturday when he was in Ankara. From the very beggining when Hans made him to come one Saturday Chuck did a huge progress. Starting as a solid defender when everybody better stopped not to bump into wall he got some skills to pass and shoot the ball. Not much running but good positioning and radius where he block forwards became his advantage.

Chuck took over the responsibility of the team Captain and "President" when Hans left. He helped to organise trainings and always spread friendship and fun among us.

To the end...it is not the end...Chuck will still be with us at least until summer when he comes back from USA after couple of weeks.

Chuck, we wish you all the best, enjoyable and healthy retirement, be always happy, have always a dash of luck and I am sure if little of this is sometimes missing your lovely Liz will always take care of you!

P.S. Prior the match started the teams entered the pitch together with the referee under the supervision of TV cameras and honered the memory of people whose lives went out in the devastating earthquake and tsunami in Japan recently.

We started without any ambitions for this match which gave us free "hands" to play. And it was us who scored first. After a scrum in front of the french goal Meder (I guess) aimed and it ended in the net. It was around 15 min in the first half. Since then we tried to keep the ball on our shoes but with the skilled oponnent players it was sometimes quite difficult.

Second half was remarked with many interruptions caused by french fouls. These were well observed by the ref however the clear hand ball played with intention from the last french defender was not recognised. It would lead Fatih (CM) to the open counter attack one on one. But excuse for this. We had our chances to score more. Solid defence with passes from Wolfgang supported by Yancho and Fatih was one of our plus.

At he end french started their pressing and the ball was most time on our half.
